At Seniors Helping Seniors® for southwest Chicago, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Surya K. Ghosh, Deepa Rawat firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Plainfield, Joliet, Crest Hill, and surrounding areas.

Growing up in Calcutta India, Surya Kamal Ghosh and Deepa Rawat have a deeply engrained sense of how to care for aging loved ones. Both were raised with the strong family values that you care for those who cared for you. “We were fortunate to have grown up living with grandparents, uncles and aunts,” shared Deepa. “We were both taught to care for our elders, help around the house and to be there if someone was ill. We are passing the same values of caring onto our daughters,” continued Surya.

Surya and Deepa wanted to take that sense of responsibility for seniors and be a support for aging community members and their families in the southwest Chicago area. “Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care allows us to help active seniors who want to help others and to give back to their community, while also providing compassionate, loving, quality care to seniors who may need an extra hand around the house,” said Surya.

Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care matches seniors who want to help with seniors who need a little help. Both provider and receiver gain so much from the experience of peer-to-peer assistance. “Matching caregivers who are close in age to seniors who need help forms a unique bond,” shared Deepa. “Often times our providers and receivers form such strong relationships that they do become friends.”

The senior providers who work with Surya and Deepa offer many non-medical, in-home services including:

Personal care
Light cleaning
Computer assistance
Overnight stays
Long-distance check-ins
Respite care
Home maintenance
Surya and Deepa truly understand the unique needs of families who want to be there for their aging loved ones but cannot be there around the clock. “We can support families in our community, so they know their aging loved one is being cared for in a loving, compassionate way, and can remain independent in his or her own home longer,” shared Surya.

Prior to opening Seniors Helping Seniors home care, Surya and Deepa were both software professionals. Surya has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Deepa has a Master’s degree in Information Systems Management. They have both worked in multinational consulting companies throughout their careers. In 2003 they moved to the United States and lived in several places before making Illinois their home, with their two daughters Sneha and Roma. “We love our community and are very active in it,” said Deepa. “Our hope is to have Seniors Helping Seniors home care be a fixture for our older community members, and a source of respite for their families.”
